Course Overview
Content Writing Course with Gold Membership by Henry Harvin is an online, instructor-paced certification course by Henry Harvin. This course will teach you the different ways you can improve your writing skills and become a professional content writer. You will learn how to structure your thoughts and write content according to the format that has been specified for a particular writing assignment. You will be provided insights into the different online tools available for writers.
The instructor of the course was knowledgeable and well-versed in all the topics that she covered. Despite our batch consisting of people from various parts of India and belonging to different age groups, she was able to pace her teaching such that everyone understood and no one felt left behind. She was also kind enough to share tips, tricks, and tools that she uses personally and made sure to review each of our assignments well.
I did a lot of online research before narrowing down on the Henry Harvin CDCW course. There were other institutes that offered diplomas but they were mostly offline and required me to relocate. Henry Harvin offered a 1-month online course with a detailed curriculum covering an exhaustive list of writing styles.
"Our major project in the course was to create a website of our own on Wix and start blogging. This boosted my confidence in writing, and motivated me to practice writing every day."

Course Structure
It takes 1 month to complete the course. The course has 11 modules. We started with basic language and internet research skills, followed by a detailed study about the various forms of writing: Academic writing, Blog/business writing, Technical writing, Creative writing, Copywriting, etc. There was also a detailed module on Content Strategy.
The course ended with a module teaching us how to monetize our writing skills with the help of freelancing platforms. At the end of every session (that happened bi-weekly), we were given an assessment or two based on the topic we had covered in the session. We had to send them in before the next class to the instructor, who was sure to have reviewed them beforehand. She also took the time to review everyone's assessment in the class so that we could all learn from each other.
There was no limit placed on the number of attempts an assessment had since this was a writing course. Writers were allowed to make mistakes and learn from them. Students were encouraged to take notes during classes. The instructor ensured that all her students had jotted down the important points from every slide before moving on. Henry Harvin approaches those who have successfully completed the Content Writing course to join their internship program. It is a well-structured 6-month program that gives writers the opportunity to start writing and also experiment with their style of writing.
Our major project in the course was to create a website of our own on Wix and start blogging. Mine is called Parallel Lines, and it is centered around the importance of wellness and work-life balance in an individual's life. I'm glad that the course and the tutor encouraged us to build this website and start blogging. It was a great way to start what I would never have if left to my own.
Insider Tips
- Take Notes: As instructors discuss the various writing formats of different styles of writing, it is important that you keep a note of all of them. The format of the write-up is extremely important when writing for academic or professional purposes.
- Research: This course has made me realize how important research is for writing. Be sure to pay close attention to the different types of sources available to you when writing and keep a track of them immediately so that you will not face difficulty in the citation.
- Keep Writing: As a writer, it is crucial that you keep practicing your writing. When I started my blog as part of the course requirement, I found myself getting better after every piece of writing I did.
Final Take
Although I was passionate about writing, being a software engineer, I did not have any certification to tell prospective clients that I was a proficient writer. The industry today requires your skills to be backed by some kind of proof - a certification or a degree. After much research, I came by the Henry Harvin Content Writing course during the first wave of the pandemic when we were new to the word 'lockdown.'
Having time in my hands, I decided to enroll, hoping that it would help me jump-start my career as a content writer. After the course, I got into the content team of a Digital Marketing agency in Chennai, and after a year's worth of experience, I am currently working as a Content Marketing Specialist at Larsen & Toubro (L&T) group of companies.
The course from Henry Harvin is very much relevant in 2022 and will be for many more years to come. The world has opened up to Digital Marketing, and the Indian market is only a new entrant in the game. Content writing is a vital and large part of Digital Marketing.
Everything needs content, or as the saying goes, "Content Is King." As the market opens up and the importance of content writers is being realized by companies, they have already started raising the pay scale for writers. The future looks bright for content writers and so, opting for this course makes perfect sense!
