Course Description

This MOOC is a 4-week course that expands on the core components of Android app development and concurrency frameworks covered in Course 2. The course focuses on two main topics: started and bound services and local inter-process communication (IPC) and content providers.

The course teaches students how to program these components using Android's Material Design paradigm. Case study apps will be reviewed from different perspectives to reinforce the concepts.

Throughout the course, students will work in small groups on a project involving a material-design-based RSS reader app. Each week, new capabilities will be added to the project based on the lectures.

Students should expect to spend around 4 hours per week watching videos, answering quizzes, and completing programming assignments using Java and Android.

Overall, this course provides a comprehensive understanding of the key components of Android app development and equips students with the necessary skills to create their apps using Android's Material Design paradigm.
