Course Description

This capstone course will allow you to experience the real-life challenges that data scientists face when dealing with real datasets. As a Data Scientist for a startup that is competing with SpaceX, you will play the role of a Data Scientist. This includes data collection, data manipulation, exploratory data analysis and model development. Finally, reporting to stakeholders.

Your task is to predict whether the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket's first stage will successfully land. SpaceX offers Falcon 9 rocket launches at a cost of only 62 million dollars. Other providers can charge upwards of 165 million each. SpaceX is able to reuse the first stage, which accounts for a large portion of the savings. If you are able to predict how likely it is for the first stage rocket to land successfully, you can calculate the cost of a launch. Your Data Science models and findings can help the startup you've been hired to make better bids against SpaceX for a launch. This course is the last course in the IBM Data Science Professional Certificate. It also includes the Applied Data Science Specialization with Python Specialization. It is expected that you have completed all of the prior courses in the specialization/certificate before starting this one, as it requires the application of the knowledge and skills taught in those courses. This course will not focus on new learning. Instead, it will be a hands-on experience that demonstrates what you learned in previous courses. You will earn an IBM digital badge if you take this course.
