This course will provide you with an analytical framework that will help you to evaluate key issues in a structured manner and equip you to manage uncertainties that can pervade or complicate business processes. The course will focus on statistical concepts that managers can use. It covers two main themes. First, it focuses on recognizing and describing the variations in all things. Second, it focuses on modeling and making decisions when these variations are present. These fundamental concepts will be reapplied in other classes and business settings. We will focus on how to interpret the results in a managerial and business setting.
Although you will learn some science behind the lessons, the emphasis will be on how to apply the methods. Excel will be used to create data sets that come from many disciplines. This will allow you to understand the application of statistics in a variety of settings. These concepts will be explained and then you will learn how to interpret the results. The course is part of the Gies College of Business online program, which includes the iMBA or iMSM.
