Course Description

This course will introduce you to the basic concepts of cloud computing. This course will provide you with the information necessary to understand cloud computing both from a practitioner and business perspective. This course will help you understand the history and key characteristics of cloud computing, as well as its future applications. Here are some of the most well-known service providers today (e.g. AWS, Google, IBM, Microsoft, etc.) Here are some case studies that illustrate the benefits of cloud computing in different industries.

Learn more about the cloud service models (IaaS, PaaS) and the deployment models (Public, Private, Hybrid), along with the key components of a cloud infrastructure such as VMs and Networking, Storage - File Block and Object, and CDN. We will also be discussing emerging cloud trends and practices such as Hybrid Multicloud, Microservices and Serverless, and DevOps. We also discuss the basics of cloud security, monitoring, and the various roles in the cloud industry. This course does not require any programming or experience with cloud computing. However, you will be able create an IBM Cloud account and get hands-on experience in managing and provisioning a cloud service. This course is suitable for all audiences. This course is suitable for executives, managers, students and anyone else interested in cloud computing. After completing this course, you can also earn the Cloud Computing Core IBM badge.
