Course Description

Do you need a quick overview of networks? This video is a basic introduction to networking by Bruce Hartpence, a network designer and teacher. You will have a good understanding of the basics of networking and the tools required to build them.

Bruce will introduce network standards and vendors such as ITU-T and IEEE, IETF and Cisco, Juniper and Avaya as well as various components of the network including the Network Interface Card, access points, routers, switches, and routers. You will also learn about:

Bruce Hartpence is a faculty member at the Golisano college of computing and information science at Rochester Institute of Technology in New York. He currently teaches in areas such as wireless communication, voice over Internet Protocol, and network design. He also runs an industrial training program for networking. Bruce is the author Packet Guide for Voice over IP, Packet guide to Core Network Protocols and Packet Guide To Routing and Switching (all O’Reilly).
