Course Description

In this Learning Data Modeling training course, expert author Michael Blaha teaches how to create and prepare data models for simple problems. The course is designed for those with programming experience, but no prior data modeling experience is necessary. Blaha demonstrates how to create a UML-based data model by adding attributes and classes and simplifying the model. He also covers converting a UML datamodel into an IE model, as well as model quality and different types of data models. The tutorial includes instruction on creating SQL server and MS-Access databases, data modeling patterns, and reverse engineering. By the end of the course, students will have the ability to create their own data models. The working files included with the course allow students to follow along with Blaha's lessons.
