College of Engineering (CET), Trivandrum is affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological university and was established in 1939. The college has worked towards excellence at the national level in every aspect of technical education since its inception and has grown from a tiny institution of fewer than a hundred students to a multi-disciplinary college situated in a sprawling 125-acre campus. The CET is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), a body of AICTE. In NIRF Ranking 2021, the institute has secured 11th and 95th ranks in the architecture and engineering categories respectively.
As of now, the college provides a total of 68 courses spanning the field of computer science, engineering, management and architecture among others. CET provides B.Tech courses in civil, mechanical, electrical and electronics, electrical and communications, computer science, applied electronics and instrumentations, and industrial engineering. Then there are M.Tech courses in more than 25 fields such as structural, propulsion, thermal, geotechnical engineering, etc. The B.Arch course offered by the college is one of the best in the country. Apart from technical education, students can also opt for MCA, MBA, M.Plan and M.Arch courses after qualifying for respective entrance examinations and eligibility for them. The institute has a multitude of research facilities that would lead to Ph.D. degrees from Kerala University and the Kerala technological university in mechanical, civil, electrical, computer science, electronics and communications engineering, architecture, and in business administration.
College of Engineering, Trivandrum is located in Sreekaryam, Thiruvananthapuram. It is situated 12 kilometres away from Trivandrum Airport. It is a 15-minute drive from the airport to the college campus, which is a great convenience for anyone flying to the city. The college is equally close to Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station and situated 11 km away from it. One can take any sort of public transport or cab service available at the station to reach the college campus.
The college has a men's hostel with 250 rooms to accommodate 500 students. Hostels consist of Indoor and outdoor facilities for sports and cultural activities such as reading rooms and fitness centres with up-to-date equipment.
