Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar National Institute of Technology or NIT Jalandhar as a university was established in 1987 initially as the “Regional Engineering College” and then Deemed to the status of “National Institute of Technology” by the Government of India in 2002. The university has been declared as the “Institute of National Importance” by the Government of India and the Indian Parliament in 2007. It provides high-quality technical education in several streams of engineering, sciences. NIT Jalandhar has a faculty strength of 208 teaching staff and 4067 students. The campus area of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar National Institute of Technology covers 154 acres. NIT Jalandhar is a co-educational campus with 16 departments and is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation. The university is mandated by the UGC act and possesses 78th rank in the overall category and 49th rank in the engineering category in NIRF 2021 Rankings. The university secured 52nd rank in NIRF Rankings 2020.
