National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal is a public technological institute recognised as an institute of national importance by the GOI. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru laid the foundation for the institute on October 10, 1959. It was formerly known as a Regional Engineering College and renamed NIT Warangal in 2002. The institute is ranked 23rd in the NIRF 2021 Ranking for the Engineering category and 59th in the overall category. The NIT Warangal campus is spread over an area of 256 acres.
