North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology is a science and technology institute that was established in 1984. NERIST Nirjuli is a deemed-to-be-university, autonomous, fully funded, and controlled by the Ministry of Education, Government of India (formally MHRD). NERIST is recognized by MHRD. The institute is managed by a Board of Management comprising representatives of the Ministry of Education, the eight beneficiary states of the North-Eastern region, AICTE, and educationists to bring about a well-enhanced academic institute. The institute is also ranked at 182nd position in the NIRF ranking 2021 for the Engineering category. The institute campus is spread over 515 acres, and it currently has a total faculty of 131.
