Course Description

Docker is a platform that allows you to deploy software applications as portable, self-sufficient containers. These containers can be used on any server. Docker is a platform that can prepare and run distributed software applications. It is often compared with configuration management tools like Puppet, Ansible, or virtualization software like VirtualBox or VMware. But Docker is a distinct category, offering new ways of running software applications.

This video tutorial will teach you how to "Dockerize" a software application and move it to the cloud using containers and images.

You will learn how Docker can bring powerful benefits to your company, not only because it separates development and operations issues but also because it is more efficient than traditional Virtual Machines.

You will be able to use Docker with your own apps if you have experience in managing and deploying software applications in production.

Andrew T. Baker, an independent consultant, is based in Washington, DC. He is the author of spin-docker, a lightweight open-source Platform-as-a-Service powered by Docker and Flask. He has presented and written about Docker and led tutorials for developers and sysadmins. Andrew blogs at http://www.andrewtorkbaker.com and hangs out on Twitter (@andrewtorkbaker) spreading the Docker love.
