Course Description

You've probably seen TV programs about forensic scientists. But how does it really work? The course will explain how forensic scientists work and include case studies drawn from around the globe and Singapore.

We will try to answer some of your questions, including:

What is the history of forensics? How important is forensics for police work? These methods can be applied in areas that are not criminal?

Blood. It is what? What can be done to prove that blood traces are present?

Does DNA chemistry have any real power?

Is it possible to poison yourself? What happens to me if someone tries poisoning myself?

What is the best way to determine how long someone has been gone? Is it possible to tell how long someone has been gone?

Is it possible to convict someone by a small piece of carpet fluff or one hair?

Is Emperor Napoleon killed or murdered by perfidious British?
