Established in 1994, IIT Guwahati was an attempt at improving the education facilities in Assam. With a beautiful campus close to the flowing Brahmaputra, this idyllic location provides the ideal backdrop for learning. IITG is also the home to the first research park pf North-East India.
With 11 departments and five academic centres, the institute offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degrees in major engineering, science and humanities disciplines.
Keen on raising global citizens, IITG provides overseas academic and internship opportunities through partner universities and organisations. These include the University of Adelaide, Ecole Polytechnique, University of Nottingham and CSIR.
Ranked 7 in both, Engineering and Overall by NIRF in 2020, IITG is among the best colleges in India. QS World Rankings 2021 ranked it 470 overall and 51-100 by Subject. QS Rankings for 2022 have moved it up the ranks to 395 and have ranked IIT Guwahati at 41 in ‘Research Citations per Faculty. This shows the high quality and quantity of research that takes place at such a reputed institution.
IIT Guwahati students get placed in various sectors and positions, including Software Development Engineer, Developer, Product Engineer, and Business Analyst. The top recruiters were Microsoft, Oracle, Goldman Sachs, JPMC, IBM and Wipro. With a placement percentage of 65.28% in 2020, the number of offers exceeded 650. The highest CTC offered was INR 1.5 CPA, while the average CTC lay around INR 21.5 LPA.
IIT Guwahati, although relatively new, has been able to put itself on the global map by building world-class infrastructure and carrying out extensive research.
