National Institute of Technology Srinagar was established in the year 1960. In the year 2003, NIT Srinagar acquired status of 'Institute of National Importance' and was granted deemed to be university status. The campus of the university is spread over an area of 68 acres. It has a total of 122 faculty members. In the NIRF Ranking of 2021, the university has been ranked 69th in the engineering category. The central library of the NIT Srinagar, comprises 67511 books, journals, volumes, editions, study material, learning resources, DVDs, and cassettes for the students to gain adequate knowledge about the required subject. Students can easily find books of various streams at the library.
