A change agent is a full-time organization-development professional who is responsible for bringing about change in his or her area. This is a highly dynamic position which focuses on the "people side" of change, including changes to job roles, systems or technology, organization structures, and business practices.

Change agents must be highly independent and have strong interpersonal and time-management skills and knowledge of management policies, tools, and principles. The ability to motivate others to move towards a common goal, general flexibility and adaptability, and active listening skills are also highly beneficial. There are no formal requirements to become a change agent, although many have college degrees and prior experience in multiple areas of business. An MBA or general managerial experience is beneficial, as well.

Duties of change agents include: coaching managers and supervisors; assessing change-impact; applying structured methodology; leading change-management activities; managing stakeholders; supporting employee-training efforts; and all other aspects of change-management strategy.
