Course Description

Astronomy leads the data explosion in science. The data generated by modern telescopes is terabytes per observation. Furthermore, the calculations required to accurately model our Universe test supercomputers. Scientists need to think mathematically in order to analyse the data. This course will teach you how to work with large data sets. You'll learn how to create algorithms that work, how to use databases to store your data and how machine learning can be used to extract information from your data. This course focuses on the practical aspects of astronomy. All activities are done using Python 3.
