This three-week course by Screen Industries Growth Network (SIGN) will explore the impact technology has had on storytelling in the film industry, the new opportunities it offers, and how your skills compare to different roles in the industry.

SIGN is led by the University of York and offers comprehensive training and development programs, supported by current research. This helps to create a more diverse and creative workforce in the screen industry.

This course will explore the role of people in film, television, and video games. It will also examine the skills required to work in this industry and how to adapt your existing skills to different roles.

To get you started, you'll look at building your portfolio and what next steps you can take to advance your career in this creative and exciting field.

Explore the cutting-edge technologies that are transforming entertainment media

Technology is constantly changing and many new technologies are transforming the screen industry through gaming, film, and streaming.

You'll learn about some of the current technologies in the industry as well as those that are being developed by researchers. There will also be hands-on activities that make use of freely available software.

Explore the future of storytelling in the film industries

Technology has opened up a world of possibilities for engaging storytelling, from interactive media and AI to streaming or gaming to streaming and gaming.

You'll draw on the insights of researchers working in areas of rapid-development to imagine the future screen industries and speculate about how emerging technologies might be used in the years ahead to deliver engaging content and tell stories.
