NIT Arunachal Pradesh was established under the National Institute of Technology, Science and Research Act of 2007, Parliament of India in the year 2010, along with nine other NIT’s. The university is currently functioning under the mentorship of NIT Durgapur. NIT Arunachal Pradesh is recognised as an 'Institute of National Importance' by government of India. The university has secured 160th rank in the Engineering category in NIRF 2021 Ranking with a score of 34.59 out of 100. The campus of the varsity is build over an area of 301 acres and it has a total of 52 faculty members.
It offers admission to 27 courses at UG, PG and doctoral levels. The university accepts JEE Main and GATE scores for admission to its B.Tech and M.Tech. courses respectively. The Medical Unit of NIT Arunachal Pradesh comprises two nurses, one doctor, and availability of ambulance facility. The doctors and nurses of the medical unit of NIT-AP are available whenever called. Basic equipment for performing surgeries is also available at the medical unit.
