Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, Jais, Amethi was established in the year 2007 by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India. RGIPT Amethi got the status of “An Institution of National Importance” under an Act of Parliament. The institute is spread over a campus size of 47 acres. RGIPT Amethi has a total faculty size of 52 members and 800 students. Six key oil public sector units (ONGC, IOCL, OIL, GAIL, BPCL, and HPCL) in association with the Oil Industry Development Board have co-promoted RGIPT as an energy domain specialist institute. The Institute has links to some of the world's most prestigious universities and research institutes in the field of petroleum and energy technology. The institute provides a wide range of facilities and infrastructure to its students. RGIPT Amethi offers a total of 15 courses. The institute offers scholarships and placement support to its students. The institute has secured 167th rank in the Engineering category in NIRF 2021 Ranking. It had secured 134th rank in the same category in NIRF 2020 Ranking.
