Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat is a public technical university established in 1961. On 4th December 2002, SVNIT Surat was granted Deemed University’s status with the consent of UGC and was renamed from Sardar Vallabhbhai Regional College of Engineering & Technology (SVREC), Surat to Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology. The university is ranked 47th under the engineering category in the NIRF 2021 Ranking. Further, it has been ranked 98th in the overall category in the NIRF Ranking of 2021. As per the official website, SVNIT Surat mission is to be a leading technical institute at the international level.
At present, the university offers 6 UG programmes, 36 PG programmes, 3 integrated M.Sc. programmes and 6 Ph.D programmes. The university is located on Ichchhanath Surat- Dumas Road, Keval Chowk, Surat, Gujarat. The Surat city is well connected with railways, roads and air. There are various modes through which one can reach the SNIT Surat campus. The distance of Surat Railway Station from the campus is approximately 10 km. After getting down at the railway station, one can board a taxi, rickshaw or bus that goes towards Ichchanath or Piplod. The nearest airport to Surat city is Vadodara Airport, which is 140 km away. One can hire a taxi or take a direct bus from Vadodara airport to reach the SVNIT Surat campus.
SVNIT Surat guest house has 12 fully furnished rooms along with television and telephone lines. It provides boarding and lodging facilities for invited guests, institute guests, staff members, visitors, newly appointed faculty members, participants attending conferences and workshops.
