Course Description

This capstone project will take you on a guided tour that explores all concepts that we have covered in each class. This experience is based on the story of a patient with respiratory problems who seeks out primary care. The patient's journey will be seen through the eyes of the data collected at each encounter. This will allow us to create a unique, de-identified dataset that is only available for this specialty. This data set includes both image and EHR data. We will use this data to build models that allow us to make risk-stratification choices for our patient. We'll discuss how different choices, such as feature construction, data types, model evaluation, and handling the patient timeline, can affect the care recommended by the model. We will discuss both the ethical and regulatory issues as we explore AI as a tool to improve patient care. This course is a practical experience as a medical data miner.

The Accreditation Council of Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), has granted accreditation to Stanford University School of Medicine. This allows it to provide continuing medical education for doctors. For important information about 1) Date of initial release and Termination/expiration dates; 2) Accreditation Statements and Credit Designation statements; and 3) Disclosure of financial relations for all persons who are responsible for activity content.
