Course Description

Governments and civil society groups are putting increasing pressure on global managers to step outside their traditional business roles in the interest of the greater good. Ethical questions of human rights, labor conditions and environmental impacts can present serious management dilemmas.

Foreign companies should not try to influence the country's internal political process regarding issues like democratic elections, religious freedoms or domestic tax revenue allocation. Large international retailers should enforce ethical practices for foreign suppliers such as “living wage–. International marketing practices can manipulate vulnerable consumers to make poor purchases, or increase their freedom of choice.

This program is composed of three courses. They examine business ethics issues using real cases from all over the globe. The courses draw on ethical principles and established theory to help evaluate real-world options for ethical decision-making. These courses promote awareness of the complexity faced by global decision-makers caught between competing cultural practices or laws.
