National Institute of Technology (NIT), Sikkim, is an autonomous university that was established in the year 2010. It is also known as NIT Sikkim. The university has been declared as 'Institute of National Importance' and receives funding from the government. The campus of the university covers an area of 20 acres of land. NIT Sikkim has a total of 62 faculty members. As per the official website of the university, its mission is to develop the students as ‘Thinking Engineers’ by nurturing them in attaining and enjoying the technical and scientific excellence and global exposure. The university offers courses at UG, PG and doctoral levels.

B.Tech, M.Tech., M.Sc., and Ph.D are the courses offered by the university. NIT Sikkim accepts JEE Main and GATE scores for admission to B.Tech and M.Tech. courses respectively. The university has a training and placement cell to provide placement and summer internships to students. NIT Sikkim students are offered a large number of scholarship. The campus of National Institute of Technology Sikkim has modern and upgraded facilities for students.
