NITTE Meenakshi Institute of Technology Bangalore was established in 2001 by NITTE Education Trust Mangalore. The short name of the institute is NMIT. The campus of the college is spread over an area of 16 acres of land. NMIT is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with grade A and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). NITTE Meenakshi Institute of Technology Bangalore is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). As per the NIRF ranking 2021, the college has been ranked at 168th position in the Engineering category, compared to 128th position in the year 2020. The institute is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Belgaum. NMIT offers diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level courses. The courses offered by the institute are diploma, B.E, M.Tech, M.B.A, M.C.A. and Ph.D. The courses are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The college also has many national and international collaborations like North Dakota State University (NDSU), Fargo, U.S.A, Moncton University, Canada, University of Michigan, USA, etc.
NMIT is an autonomous institute with a total 340 well-qualified faculty members. The total number of students at the institute at present is 4756. Thus, the student-teacher ratio at NMIT is 14:1. The college provides many facilities for the students, staff and faculty members.
