Course Description

Developers of applications and DevOps professionals need to ensure that their application is running at its peak. But, the app might require assistance with slow speeds, bugs, or performance that is not up to par. Professionals must be aware of and monitor the performance continuously. Monitoring an application involves identifying, analyzing, and evaluating the performance of an app. However observability is the measure of the degree to which an application is monitored using the information gathered from monitoring. Monitoring and observability are essential to gain insight on the operation and to ensure the system's proper operation. This course teaches you about monitoring and observability. It covers the fundamentals of monitoring and tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Mezmo (LogDNA), and Instana. In addition, you will learn about the 3 pillars that comprise observability as well as the use of tracing in container applications. You will also get hands-on experience using The OpenTelemetry framework. Through the course, you will participate in interactive labs to test your knowledge and get familiar with methods and tools utilized in the software industry as well as DevOps professionals. At the end of this course, you'll be competent to demonstrate your understanding of observability and monitoring, and gain confidence in performing the tasks you are taught in a real-world environment.
