Assam University, Silchar is a central government University which was established in 1994 after the enactment of the Assam(Central) University Act of 1989. It is well on its way to be deemed as an 'Institute of Excellence'. The campus is spread over 600 acres and provides an ideal environment for its researchers, students, and staff. The university has secured 93rd in the university category in NIRF 2021 ranking with a score of 39.21/100.
