Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad or MNNIT Allahabad was established in 1961 in the form of a joint enterprise of the Government of India and the Government of Uttar Pradesh. It was associated initially with the University of Allahabad and later transformed to be renamed as the Motilal Nehru Regional College of Engineering, and affiliated to the Uttar Pradesh Technical University until 2002. In 2007 it was granted the status of a deemed university and renamed as the “National Institute of Technology” with an elevation in status to Institution of national importance. It is spread across an area of 222 acres of land. MNNIT Allahabad is ranked 42nd under the engineering category in the NIRF 2021 Ranking. In the NIRF Rankings of 2021, the university has been ranked 88th in the overall category.
MNNIT Allahabad was created with a vision to serve as an institution for technological innovation, act as a creator as well as the disseminator of knowledge and an institution for technological innovation. The university is situated in the city of Allahabad Prayagraj which is well connected in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh through flight, roadways and rail transport. From the different parts of the country, the Allahabad city domestic airport Bamrauli Airport helps to connect with major airports such as Delhi, Lucknow and Kolkata. It is 16 km from MNNIT. The Allahabad City Railway Station is 8 km and the Civil Lines bus station is 6 km from the campus.
The MNNIT Allahabad transport facility is used by the student to travel to and from within the University Campus as per a time table at every subsidised rate. The students and faculty members will be able to request for drop in and pick up at railway station and bus stand upon early request.
