Throughout the course, learners will engage in various activities, including video lectures, quizzes, programming assignments, and hands-on projects. The course is self-paced and can be completed in about 4 weeks, making it a flexible option for individuals with busy schedules.

Overall, the Operating Systems and You: Becoming a Power User course is a great option for individuals interested in learning about operating systems and who wish to become a power user. The course is taught by experienced instructors and provides learners with hands-on experience with operating systems. By the end of the course, learners will have a solid understanding of operating systems and be able to use their knowledge to optimize their computer's performance and security.

Insider Tips

To get the best out of this course, I have included some important tips that you might find useful.

  • Assessment/Grading Assignment

The Quik lab program is present in every topic, and following the instruction helped solve the questions of the operating systems. You can use the lab 3 times a day.

  • Prerequisites

This is a beginner course, and there is no prerequisite course or learning required for this course. This course is well-designed and well-structured.

Final Take

I am a final-year computer science student at GITAM Deemed University, Bangalore. This course helped me clear the coding round of the interview and helped me get a job at campus placement. Learning the operating system is important as it handles the memory and processes of the computer, as well as all of its software and hardware. It also allows you to interact with the computer even if you do not understand its language. A computer is useless without an operating system. Understanding the services of an operating system will influence how you design applications, administer, and use the system well. You will develop a better understanding of the structure of modern computing systems, from the hardware level through the operating system level and onto the applications level. I want to learn about the Operating system, and I got the right platform, Coursera, where I got this course designed by Google and its employees.

The operating system eliminates the hassle of sharing data with several other devices and even different users through printers, modems, fax machines, and email services. The operating system offers data storage, access, and security tools to handle the data effectively and guarantee security.
