Course Description

Healthcare Marketplace Overview is the first course. It covers all major sub-sectors in the healthcare industry, including physicians, hospitals, insurers, and medical technology markets. The history of each market is also included. Healthcare Delivery Providers is the second course. It provides an in-depth overview of the healthcare delivery system and the transformations taking place to improve the health and well-being of communities and populations. The third course,Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Innovations, gives the learner an in-depth view of the intellectual property creation that is vital to creating breakthrough technologies. Medical Technology and Evaluation is the fourth course. It explains how healthcare market cost-effectiveness analysis can be used to assign a value to a life saved by a new invention. The Capstone combines the key skills from all four courses to create a unique medical innovation valuation. The first course helps the learner size a market or population. The second course examines the impact of new innovations on the healthcare delivery system and clinicians. The third course examines the market for medical technology innovations that can compete or complement each other. The fourth course shows how to assign a financial value to the improvements in health that result from a new technology. The four courses in the series support the capstone experience.
