Pohang University of Science and Technology

POSTECH hosted the POSCO Research Institute of Science and Technology on campus. POSTECH established the Pohang Accelerator Laboratory in 1994. This is a third-generation synchrotron lightsource and is now a national facility. PAL-XFEL is a fourth-generation light source Xray-free electron laser (XFEL), which was completed in 2016 at a cost of US$390million. It is the third such facility in the world.
