Fakir Mohan University, Balasore was established in 1999 by the Government of Odisha, under Section 32 of the Odisha Universities Act, 1989 (Act 5 of 1989). FM University Balasore is a government university located in Balasore. The university is recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC). FMU has been accredited by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and is also a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), UK. The university is also accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a ‘B+’ grade. Currently, it is functioning from the two campuses: The old campus at Januganj, beside the National Highway near Remuna Golei and the new campus at Nuapadhi, in and around Balasore town. FM University Balasore offers B.Ed and M.Ed Integrated, M.B.A, L.L.M, M.Com, M.Sc, M.C.A, M.Lib.I.Sc, M.A and M.Phil programmes.
