The Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai was established in 1933 as the University of Bombay's University Department of Chemical Technology (UDCT). Since then, the institute has evolved as a centre of knowledge for chemical technology, chemical engineering, pharmacy, biotechnology, applied chemistry, and bio-processing. Focused on research, training, and education, ICT Mumbai ranked 5th in pharmacy institutions, 15th among engineering institutions, 21st in research institutions, 27th overall, and 15th among universities as per the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2021. The institution, declared Elite Status and Centre of Excellence, has contributed world-class talent and expertise to the chemical, materials, biological, and energy industries globally.
The Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai courses are offered in Bachelor's, Master's, Post-Graduate Diploma, and Ph.D. The programmes are backed by an extensive and updated curriculum, first-rate infrastructure, synergic industrial support, and erudite faculty. ICT Mumbai courses are approved and accredited by NBA, NAAC and AICTE. The institute also houses leading-edge facilities for research and exploratory studies. Initially spearheading academia in Chemical Technology, the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai has crafted and delivered courses in Chemical Engineering and Sciences; Biological Engineering, Sciences, and Technology; Product Engineering; Materials Engineering and Sciences; and Energy Engineering and Sciences.
ICT Mumbai’s Prof. M.M Sharma library is regarded as one of India’s best special libraries. The two-storied building stocks old classics, electronic journals, chemical engineering books, and e-books. The library is entirely computerised using ICT’s central management software known as Libsys.
