Jamia Millia Islamia is a public university established in the year 1920. The university is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The varsity has 9 faculties of studies, 38 teaching, and research departments, and 27 centres of learning and research. In the year 2015, JMI Delhi received its NAAC Accreditation with Grade ‘A++’. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of the Government of India placed JMI at 10th position in the architecture category, 33rd position in the engineering category, 7th position in the law Category, 36th position in the management category, 30th position in the research category, 20th position in the dental category, 6th position in the university category and at 13th position in the overall category in 2021.
Also, JMI ranked between 801 and 1000 in Times Higher Education (THE) in the 2017 global ranking and between 751-800 in the 2019 QS World University Ranking in 2019.
