Madras Institute of Technology was founded in 1949. Its current status is due to the non-focus efforts of its Chairpersons and Founders and strong leadership of Directors, Staff, Alumni, Directors, Staff, and Alumni. Also, it has been influenced by the personality and level of its students over the past 50 year. It is one among four colleges (University Departments), of Anna University. India has received new technology from the center, including electronic engineering, aviation engineering and musical instrument technology. MIT was India's first defense center.
It offers B.Tech, M.Tech and M.S programs, as well as Ph.D.
