Institute Overview

The National Institute of Technology, Silchar is an 'institution of national importance' established and governed by the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007. Situated in the pristine state of Assam, it has more than 600 acres of lush green campus in Silchar. It was formerly known as Regional engineering college and was upgraded to the status of NIT in 2002. It intends to nurture bright engineers, scientists, and technologists and has a blended mode of study and experienced faculties. It is UGC recognized and approved by the All India Council of Technical Education or AICTE and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). 

It has multiple courses provided under Science, management, humanities, and Social sciences. Engineering is an integral part of the institution and has six undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate degrees.
