Affiliated to Network of Universities from the Capitals of Europe, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) or Charles III University of Madrid is a public institution of higher education in Madrid, the capital city of Spain. It was founded in the year 1989 under the Spanish Parliament Act within the framework of the 1983 University Reform Act. It has accreditations from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Association of MBAs.UC3M has fully-fledged campuses at four locations across the city of Madrid, namely Getafe, Leganés, Colmenarejo and Madrid-Puerta de Toledo. Other facilities on the campus include an auditorium, a courtroom, audio-visual rooms, recording and TV studios, workshops, laboratories and computer rooms. The university library possesses a wide collection of rare and unique resources in printed and digital form, including subject guides, e-journals, and databases. These resources can be accessed by both faculty and the students for teaching, learning and research purposes. There are several study rooms and virtual spaces for students.The university has a total of three sports centers that house state-of-the-art athletic and recreational facilities for the students. These facilities include a swimming pool, spa, climbing wall, boulder, sports hall, fitness rooms, outdoor tracks, multipurpose rooms and outdoor courts. The institution allows access to the internet all around the campus. UC3M has three residence halls that accommodate over a thousand students. There are four cafeterias across all the campuses, where students can enjoy healthy and tasty food and drinks.UC3M has 27 departments housed in six schools and one university centre. The university offers 45 undergraduate, 77 postgraduate and 19 doctorate programs in engineering, basic sciences, humanities, mathematics, business, communication, library science, law, social sciences and languages. At present, it has over 18,676 students and more than 2,668 employees on the roll. The student body has 20% of students from foreign countries. Students' Association runs various clubs on the campus and organizes several activities and events of personal, social and academic interests.UC3M possesses a comprehensive list of alumni living across the globe. Some notable names in the list, who are highly successful and reputable for their contribution in their professional areas, include Manu Brabo (Pulitzer Prize-Winning Photographer), Carlos Ayala Vargas (Politician), Maheta Matteo Molango (Retired Footballer), Omar Ayuso (Actor), Roberto Gil Zuarth (Politician), Javier Suárez (Economist), Tomás Ocaña (Popular Journalist) and Fernando Lorenzo (Politician and Economist).
