University of Agricultural Sciences Bangalore was established in 1963 by an act passed by the Government of Mysore, Karnataka. Dr. Zakir Hussain, the then vice president of India had inaugurated the university. The campus of the university spreads over an area of 30 acres of land. UAS Bangalore has 6 colleges under its jurisdictions, 1 main research station, 2 zonal agricultural research stations, 10 agricultural research stations and 7 Krishi Vigyan Kendras. The university has also established 32 All India Coordinated Research Projects (AICRP) in different areas. There is also a Centre for Agriculture and Rural Development Studies (CARDS) at the university.
The university offers courses in the fields of agricultural sciences. B.Tech, B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D are the courses offered by the university. Admission to the courses are offered on the basis of the entrance tests like KCET for B.Tech and ICAR AIEEA for B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. University of Agricultural Sciences Bangalore has a total 166 well-qualified faculty members. The total number of students enrolled at present is 2215. The student-teacher ratio at UAS Bangalore is 13:1. University of Agricultural Sciences Bangalore also has many national and international collaborations like Mansanto Research Centre, Bangalore, ICRISAT, Hyderabad, KIRK House Trust, UK, etc.

The placement cell also conducts various training programmes to make the students placement ready. Several scholarships are provided by the university to help the meritorious and financially disadvantaged students. Sharans Vedanth Scholarship, Shakunthala Venkataswamy Scholarship, R.N Lakshmipathi and Nagrathnamma Scholarship are some of the scholarships provided by the university. The university also has an NSS unit.

University of Agricultural Sciences Bangalore library facilities include a large number of textbooks and reference books, national and international journals, periodicals, newspapers, magazines, etc. The library also has an e-corner. E-books, e-journals, online databases are available. Xerox and internet facilities are also there in the library.
