Field service technicians provide various types of customer support at the client's site, including troubleshooting, setting up and reinstallation of equipment and systems. The daily logs of work and service tickets have to be completed and precise as well as there is an element of user and owner education to the job. Technicians should be able to interact face-to-face with customers regularly offering training and assistance. There is some physical work required to be a field technician and certain moving equipment.
Technicians should have a solid knowledge of the product, but they must also be capable of "think out of the box" whenever needed. Experience with a variety of computers is advantageous. Candidates must be able to perform work with little supervision on a regular basis. Skills in project management are beneficial since many projects require the need to ensure that equipment from different suppliers is properly installed and is working in conjunction. It is common to have several projects going on simultaneously and technicians need to be able to monitor and keep up-to-date on several tasks simultaneously.
