Commercial directors are responsible of overseeing commercial initiatives for their company. They are accountable for directing advertising campaigns as well as interacting with staff and other individuals outside the organization to boost brand recognition and loyalty. Commercial directors are required to identify the weaknesses in their products or services and recommend changes. They are responsible for overseeing these modifications and assist in establishing ways to monitor the progress. They typically lead an entire team of advertising, marketing, and sales professionals in achieving the company's goals. This may involve coaching, disciplining and giving the team with feedback when required.
One of the principal tasks is to develop strategies to improve selling and management of teams. In all their duties commercial directors are required to follow the company's procedures and privacy rules in the event that they are applicable. Typically commercial directors must communicate their performance in the direction of their chief executive officers of their company.
An undergraduate degree from commercial development, project management or business analysis, or any related area is required for this job. Experience in a similar job is desirable or management experience. Commercial directors should have strong management skills, be able to work in a team setting and possess a solid understanding of the relevant business practices.
