Description

Copywriters are employed in the field of advertising, writing convincing advertisements and handouts for a variety of businesses. Also known as a "creative content provider" a copywriter must be able to grab the attention of an audience in just a few words, and occasionally one or two images. The ability to convey an effective message using handful of pictures and words is essential.

Copywriters are usually spending their time creating slogans and ads through their creative processes. It usually involves meeting with clients to discuss the audience and ideas they wish to convey. The copywriter then uses this knowledge base to come up with some unique concepts to communicate to the client and then alter the ideas to meet the requirements of the client. They then oversee the finalization of the content.

The typical working hours are Monday through Friday during normal working hours. Sometimes, a copywriter is required to travel for appointments with customers, but they usually work in an office or studio. But, copywriters need to be flexible as the normal work schedule may be interrupted when deadlines are looming and closing in. The work schedule can be extended into weekends, and even after working hours on weekdays.

A college degree is not necessary for the job of a copywriter. Copywriters need to have strong writing abilities, and also be creative. Certain agencies require an IPA Foundation Certificate for new applicants to the field.
