Course Description

Spring Batch is the preferred batch processing framework for Spring developers. There are many reasons why Spring Batch is popular with Spring Batch developers, but these three stand out. First, Spring Batch is the most popular batch framework on JVM. You'll find two almost identical documents if you compare JSR352 documentation (the Java specification for standardizing batch processing), and the documentation for Spring Batch.
Spring Batch is JSR 352. It can scale from one JVM to multiple JVMs. This means it can handle any batch processing load. It has a compelling set if robust error handling capabilities that minimize errors, and keep your trouble pager (for the most parts) from buzzing at 3 AM. This video covers topics such as project setup, job configuration and reading and writing to various inputs. Validating, processing and filtering data are also covered.

  • Learn everything Spring developers need in order to get started with batch processing
  • Understanding job flow - Spring's infrastructure to set up and configure batch processing
  • Spring has a variety of tools that can be used to read and write to different inputs and outputs.
  • Spring techniques for validating and processing data.
  • Scale from a single JVM up to multiple JVMs to handle any work load
  • Learn why Spring's error handling capabilities are so important to keep your pager buzzing at 3AM

Michael Minella is a software engineer and teacher with more than a decade of experience in enterprise development. Michael was part of the expert group on JSR-352 (java batch process). He is currently the Spring Batch project lead at Pivotal and an instructor at DePaul University. Michael is the author and project leader for Pro Spring Batch from Apress, as well as the popular Refcard JUnit & EasyMock.
