You will learn new ways to engage with radical uncertainties, think critically about how uncertainty is distributed in societies and organizations, and develop greater resilience in the face radical uncertainty and unanticipated events.

Brexit climate change COVID-19 political and social change terrorism disruptive technologies are just some of the many sources of radical uncertainty that organisations around the globe are currently facing. It is becoming more apparent that innovation and agility in dealing with uncertainty and the unforeseeable are essential capabilities.

Many in leadership and management positions have seen the dangers of the unexpected. Others, however, have demonstrated remarkable innovation and agility to seize the opportunities that uncertainty can offer.

This microcredential will give you the insight to make timely decisions and take action when confronted with radical uncertainty.

The expertise and insight of senior leaders across multiple disciplines and sectoral fields, as well as the major research network Challenging Radical Uncertainty In Science Society and the Environment (CRUISSE), will be invaluable to you.

This course combines over 30 years' worth of experience and research in the issues of decision making and acting under extreme uncertainty. It draws from management theory, psychology sociology, and economics.

You'll learn how to apply the ideas you have learned in The Open University's course to solve problems in your own work, and then reflect on them with other learners. In a final project, you'll put what you have learned to work on your own problems. This will reflect on your future learning.
