Course Description

UNESCO (United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation), reports that 91% of the world’s student population – a total 1,576,021,818 learner across 188 countries and all sectors –” were affected by the closing of educational institutions in spring 2020 as part of a broader lockdown strategy to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many institutions had to rush to make their online teaching accessible on a massive scale. Many exams have been cancelled or moved online, causing uncertainty for students.

No matter when the pandemic ends, the online pivot in education will continue regardless. As more learning opportunities become available online, it is likely that this online pivot will be permanent. Online learning is so widespread that it will be essential to learn how to create engaging courses for adults.

This microcredential will help you understand how adults learn online. This microcredential will help you evaluate technology for online and distant learning in particular contexts. You'll use a variety of research and experience to discover how to create engaging and inspiring online courses.

We'll be examining different online learning and teaching methods to determine their suitability for learners in specific situations and how you can ensure that your classes are inclusive and accessible.

You'll ultimately explore the many opportunities offered by technology learning and examine the challenges and benefits of online learning methods that can help you to build a career beyond lockdown or the coronavirus crisis.
