Course Description

This series of lessons will focus on the fundamental principles of graphic design. We'll start by studying composition and how each design element fits together within a composition. We'll then learn about symmetrical and unsymmetrical balances and some general rules for dividing space within a design. The next step is to establish a focal point in a design through creating emphasis. Next, we will learn about rhythm and its impact on the flow of our work. Next, we'll discuss how to unify a composition by using harmony, grouping and alignment. We'll also learn how to create contrast in a design. Software needed: InDesign CS4, Acrobat reader.
