Established in 1964, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya was formerly known as the University of Indore. The university is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a grade of ‘A+’. There are more than 220 colleges that are affiliated with DAVV Indore. The university is recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC). There are more than 30 University Teaching Departments (UTD’S) functioning in the university such as the Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), School of Physics, School of Life Sciences, School of Instrumentation, School of Languages etc.
The university vision and mission is derived from the university motto- “Dhiyo Yonah Prachodayat”. The university is located in Indore. There are more than 12,000 students currently enrolled in DAVV Indore with a faculty strength of 278. In total, 113 courses are offered to students at Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya for admissions at four levels: diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level. The university conducts its own entrance examinations for admission to various courses. The Common Entrance Test (CET) is conducted at UG and PG levels and Doctoral Entrance Test (DET) is conducted for DAVV Indore M.Phil/Ph.D. admissions.
The university is located at Nalanda Campus, R. N. T., Rabindranath Tagore Marg, Chhoti Gwaltoli, Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Sarwate Bus Stand is 1.4 km away and The nearest railway station is Indore Junction at a distance of 1.2 km and it will take around 6 minutes to reach the DAVV Indore. Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport, Indore is the nearest airport at a distance of 8.6 km that will take 10-12 minutes for students to reach the university. Students can take a bus from Sarwate Bus Stand to reach the university.
