The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Amritsar was established as the 15th IIM and was set up by the Ministry of Education (earlier called the Ministry of Human Resource Development). The IIM Amritsar was set up with the support of the Government of Punjab. The Indian Institute of Management Amritsar was set up on July 27, 2015, and the first batch for the class of 2015-17 was enrolled in August 2015. The campus is spread across an area of 62 acres of land.
The IIM Amritsar is one of the prestigious institutes of national importance located in the holy city of Amritsar. It has been distinguished to provide world-class education in management areas and create highly competent management professionals. The IIM Amritsar offers management programmes in two specialised areas of management - Business Analytics and Human Resources. The IIM Amritsar offers state-of-the-art facilities, such as a digital library, IT-enabled classrooms, auditorium, gymnasium, student activity room, hostel rooms, and health care facilities. Currently, the IIM Amritsar operates on a temporary campus with adequate facilities and the permanent campus that is being built will be equipped with the latest technologies and modern amenities. The institute has been ranked 67th in the NIRF Ranking 2021 for the management category.
Currently, the institute of IIM Amritsar conducts its classes from Punjab Institute of Technology Building, Government Polytechnic Campus. The location of which is on the Polytechnic Road near Amritsar, Punjab. The permanent campus of the Indian Institute of Management Amritsar is being constructed near Manavala on GT road. The road is on NH15 and has access to all prominent places, such as the International Airport, Amritsar Railway Station, Golden Temple, Inter State Bus Terminal and others. The now transit campus of IIM Amritsar is near the Chheharta Railway Station, which is around 4 km away. Also, Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport, Amritsar, is about 14 km away from the IIM Amritsar. The campus is easily accessible by means of a taxi or bus or any other mode of road transportation.
The institute provides hostel accommodation for the boys' students. The students are provided with 2 and 3 BHK flats on a twin sharing basis with various facilities like bed, chair, study table, cupboard, Wi-Fi, Geyser, recreation room, gym, etc.
