Founded in 2008, the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi, is a Delhi state university that was established in the year 2008. The institute specialises in Information and Technology and interdisciplinary domains. The campus is spread over 25 acres of land. In 2014, the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi, received the National Assessment and Accreditation Council or NAAC 'A' level accreditation. Moreover, IIIT Delhi has been granted 12-B status by the UGC or University Grants Commission. NIRF has ranked the institute at 63rd in 2021 in the engineering category. The institute has five research centres, namely Infosys Centre for Artificial Intelligence, Centre for Technology and Policing, Centre for Design and New Media sponsored by TCS, Cybersecurity Education and Research Centre, and Centre for Computational Biology).

With the main campus in Okhla, IIIT Delhi offers eight programmes at all education levels — UG, PG, and doctoral. IIIT Delhi is located in Okhla Industrial Estate, Phase III, New Delhi. It is situated near Nehru Place and well-connected through railway stations, metro stations, airport, and by road. The IGI airport is approximately 17.2km from the campus. Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi’s nearest metro station is Govind Puri at a distance of roughly one km. Also, Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station is at a distance of 5.2km from the campus.
