SLIET was established under the Ministry of Human Resources and Development of the Government of India in 1989 and was officially inaugurated on 20th December 1991. The institute is fully funded by MHRD. It is recognized and approved by AICTE and UGC. SLIET is spread over 451 acres of land provided by the Punjab government. SLIET offers courses including BE, diploma, MSc, MTech, MBA, and Ph.D. through particular entrance test or merit and interview. The institute has secured 161th rank in the Engineering category in NIRF 2021 Ranking with 34.59 marks. It had secured 200th rank in the same category in NIRF 2020 Ranking.
SLIET is located in Longowal, Sangrur, Punjab. One can travel by air, train, bus or cab as per their convenience and choice. The details of the transport are given below.
The institute provides hostel facilities for boys. This makes it easier for the students to reside within the campus and enjoy all the other facilities that the institute provides. The hostel rooms are well furnished and also have cable tv. There are 9 boys hostels with a capacity of about 230 students in each hostel. The PG hostels accommodate about 80 students each. For the accommodation of boys hostels, a set procedure is followed.
