Siddaganga Institute of Technology (SIT) Tumkur was set up in the year 1963 with the vision of developing the young minds in a learning environment of high academic aura keeping in the mind the spiritual as well as technical values. Siddaganga Institute of Technology Tumkur identifies itself as a private college that is affiliated with the Visvesvaraya Technological University or VTU. SIT Tumkur has been given its autonomous status by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi, Government of the state, and VTU, Belagavi. In NIRF Ranking 2021, the college has secured a 101 rank in the engineering category. Last year in NIRF 2020 Ranking, it was placed at 91st position in the engineering category.
Siddaganga Institute of Technology Tumkur works with the aim of continuously improving the effectiveness of the quality management system. The SIT Tumkur has a set of about 310 faculty members who are very experienced and devoted to their departments. Out of 310 faculty members, 139 faculty members possess a Ph.D degree from reputed academic institutions like IIT Madras, IISc, IIT Guwahati etc. SIT Tumkur is an A-rated institution by the NAAC and has also set up the Siddaganga Technology Business Incubator worth Rs. 2.75 crores. SIT Tumkur offers various programmes including 13 undergraduate courses, 12 postgraduate courses, 17 doctoral programmes in 15 different departments such as management, architecture, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and other departments of engineering.
Siddaganga Institute of Technology Tumkur is situated in Bengaluru’s Honnavar Road. The Tumkur Railway Station is at a distance of 3 kilometres from the college and Bengaluru International Airport is at a distance of 90 kilometres. The Tumkur KSRTC Bus Depot is only 2 kilometres away from the campus. Students can reach the campus by taking a bus or a cab.
SIT Tumkur facilities include hospital services which is supervised by two doctors, one nurse, and other supporting staff members. The medical services can be used by students as well as other members of the Siddaganga Institute of Technology Tumkur.
